Welcome to Sailgram, the social network where users can post images, videos, and participate in fun challenges (e.g., "Most Pushups," "Best Outfit," etc.). Your privacy is important to us, and this policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using Sailgram, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: Username, email, profile picture, bio, and the language you choose to read the app in.
• Content You Post: Images, videos, captions, comments, and private messages.
• Activity Data: The attribute votes you cast on other people’s tales, the challenges you enter, who you join, and who you block.

Collected When You Use Particular Features

• Your location, only for the Radar. The Radar shows who is within a kilometre of you, which means it also puts you on their Radar. Your latest coordinates are stored while you use it. Nothing is sent before you start a sweep, the app asks your device for permission first, and the rest of Sailgram works without it. This is the most sensitive thing we hold; see Data Retention below.
• A push notification token for your device, if you allow notifications. It identifies the device to Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging so a notification can reach it. You can switch notifications off in the app at any time.

Collected Automatically

• Server Logs: Our servers record requests, including your IP address, to keep the service secure and to diagnose faults.
• Session Cookie: On this website only, to keep you signed in. The app uses a token instead and sets no cookies.

We run no analytics or tracking. Sailgram contains no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, and no third-party tracker, and we do not build a profile of how you use the app.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

• Run Sailgram: show your tales, score the challenges, deliver your messages.
• Order what you see: the feed prioritises people you have joined, and the Radar measures distance from where you are.
• Keep it safe: check uploaded media against our rules, and act on reports and blocks.
• Reach you: notifications you have asked for, and support or account emails.

Where Your Content Goes

Two third parties handle your content as part of running the app. Neither is optional, and neither is given your data for their own purposes:

• Object storage. Your images and videos are stored with our S3-compatible storage provider rather than on our own servers. Published media is served from there over public links.
• Automated moderation — OpenAI. Every image and video frame you upload is sent to OpenAI’s moderation service to be checked automatically against categories such as sexual content and violence. This is a machine decision with no person reading it: media that is flagged is hidden from other users. If you believe something of yours was flagged wrongly, write to us at the address below and a person will look at it.
• Push delivery — Google. If you allow notifications, the notification text and your device token pass through Firebase Cloud Messaging.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. It is shared in these cases only:

• Publicly: Your username, profile picture, bio, published tales, challenges, comments and attribute scores are visible to other signed-in users, and profile, tale and challenge pages are readable on this website without an account.
• With other users, by your action: your position while you use the Radar, and anything you send in a private message.
• Service Providers: the three named above, plus our email sender and hosting.
• Legal Compliance: If required by law (e.g., court orders, fraud prevention).

Your Rights & Choices

• Delete Your Account: permanently, from the app, under EDIT PROFILE. You can also disable it instead, which hides it and can be undone by signing in again.
• Delete Posts: you can remove any tale of yours at any time, along with the comments and votes on it.
• Notifications: switch push off in the app without losing anything — your Signals list stays complete either way.
• Location: stop using the Radar and nothing further is recorded. The permission can also be withdrawn in your device settings.
• Blocking: review everybody you have blocked, and unblock them, under EDIT PROFILE.
• Request Data Access: Contact us at guardian@sailgram.app to request a copy of your data, or to ask us to correct it.

Data Retention & Security

We keep your data until you delete it or delete your account. Two specific things are worth stating plainly:

• Challenges outlive the account that created them. Deleting your account removes your profile, your tales and your messages — but a challenge you started stays, with its authorship reassigned to a placeholder account. Deleting it would also erase every other participant’s entries and results, which are theirs and not ours to remove.
• Your last Radar position is kept until you delete your account. It is overwritten by each new sweep rather than accumulating into a history, so we hold one position and not a trail.

Security measures: traffic is encrypted in transit, storage credentials and database access are restricted, and passwords are stored only as salted hashes — we cannot read yours.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. If major changes occur, we’ll notify you via the app or email.
